FILMS

1 – Mrs Jones is looking for a film her 2 daughters Emma 7 and Sarah 17 can enjoy together, and hopefully benefit from. She doesn’t want anything with bad language or unnecessary violence. Emma can be incredibly funny sometimes.

2 – Mr. Gomez is looking for a film which his 8-year-old nephew Joe would enjoy. Joe is reading his first Harry Potter book. He is always getting into trouble, and would enjoy a film about people behaving badly.

3 – Sally is looking for a sensitive film for her horse crazy little sister Rachel, who is 9. She would like something with a message. Rachel isn’t very keen on aliens, so no sci-fi for her.

4 – Jim and his dad both love anything to do with space and science, and his dad is looking for a film they can watch together. He grew up in India, and goes horse riding at the weekends.

5 – Roger needs a film to watch with his friends at his birthday party. He wants something with a lot of action, but nothing too weepy or babyish. He is 12 and considers himself to be tough. He has a pet duck called Jaws.

A – DUCK SOUP
This is a very funny film. There are explosions, gunfire, and people shooting at each other. Many of the characters do crazy things and fall over. Also, in the beginning, you see some ducks floating in a pot with a fire under it, which might upset some people.

B – ET
This is a very beautiful family film, one of the best sci-fi films ever made, about the friendship between Elliot and an alien. The story of loyalty, trust, and caring is easy to understand. Some scenes of danger may be a bit scary for very young children.

C – ANNE OF GREEN GABLES
This is a happy film about a girl with red hair called Anne Shirley who is an orphan. Anne accidentally gets her best friend drunk while looking for a horse in one scene. There are some scenes with some danger, but overall this is a lovely, relaxed, kid-friendly story.

D – HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER’S STONE
This is the first film in the Harry Potter series, and it has some intense and scary moments. The story of Harry Potter and friends won’t be strange to anyone. They are in danger here and get hurt, but not seriously, and most of the scares come from fantasy creatures.

E – THE INDIAN IN THE CUPBOARD
The Indian in the Cupboard is a soft, gentle film about friendship that teens will thoroughly enjoy. It does have some sad moments. Little Bear, who is the Indian in the title, explains that his wife died, and he is sad for her.

F – THE INCREDIBLES
The Incredibles is one of the best films about families that both kids and adults can enjoy. The family adventure includes all sorts of weapons, explosions, deaths, destruction and more. It is a bit like a James Bond film at times, but there are plenty of positive ideas about family and courage.

G – NATIONAL VELVET
This film is set in England in the year 1920, and presents a strong-minded young girl who succeeds, in very difficult circumstances, to win a British horse-jumping competition. It’s a film which teaches kids about dreams, danger, determination, and honesty.

H – THE RED BALLOON
This is an enchanting short film about a red balloon that makes friends with a little French boy, and is very enjoyable to watch. Younger kids will enjoy it because the story is interesting. Older kids will be able to see more difficult ideas and learn from them
