ACTIVITIES

1 – Lucy and her friend Rachel both have pet hamsters because they love playing with little animals. Lucy’s mum would like to take them out for the day and ideally they would like to have lunch wherever they go. They went to an aquarium last year and would like a change.

2 – Class 5 b wants somewhere to go for their end-of-term trip. Their teacher would like something educational and they would prefer something exciting like skateboarding. They will need somewhere that offers both, and this year they are doing a project about how the ancient Greeks lived.

3 – Mrs Hill has two daughters who have posters of penguins in their rooms. They love nothing better than to put on their helmets and skates and fool around. She would like to take them somewhere they would enjoy, but she has bad knees and would need somewhere to sit down.

4 – The Fennel family want to go somewhere to celebrate their son Robert’s birthday. Robert is 12 and is very interested in dinosaurs and sharks, but is crazy about football, and anything to do with what happens behind the scenes.

5 – Jack and Jim are twins who both support their local football team. They often play at being pirates, and would like their dad to take them somewhere they can really feel what it must have been like to live on the high seas.

A – THE BRITISH MUSEUM

The British museum is one of the most famous museums in the world, and there is plenty of interactivity to keep kids entertained. Free trails are provided for a range of ages, such as the ‘Hunting for Dragons’ trail about fantastic creatures and the ‘Travelling in Time’ trail about Ancient Greece. The museum also recommends specific exhibits for children to investigate further, such as the Rosetta Stone and mummified bull figures.

B – CLINK PRISON MUSEUM

The Clink Prison Museum stands on the site of one of the oldest and most notorious medieval prisons. Throughout its history it incarcerated many interesting criminals. During your tour of the museum you can learn more about these people. For those who enjoy learning about scandalous history, this is the place for you. The museum is very interactive and you will get the chance to handle archeological artifacts and even torture devices.

C – CHELSEA F.C. STADIUM TOUR AND MUSEUM

Stamford Bridge, the home ground of Chelsea F.C., is a place where magic happens. Chelsea is one of the world’s largest and most successful football clubs. The fully guided tour will take you around the dressing rooms, pitch side and dugouts, players tunnel, television and press room. The tour lasts about an hour and includes stops at the museum and Megastore.

D – CHESSINGTON WORLD OF ADVENTURES

If you’re animal-lovers, thrill-seekers, or simply like to relax and enjoy a good show, Chessington World Of Adventures is the place for you. There are over 40 rides and attractions, spread across 10 themed zones, and over 1000 exotic animals. Kids can pet farm animals and the Sea Life Centre teaches children about our oceans with exhibitions, feeding sessions and a chance to view sea creatures close up by walking through the tunnel.

E – CUTTY SARK

Built in 1869, the Cutty Sark is one of the last and fastest clipper ships to be built in Britain. Previously a cargo ship, she’s been on display to the public since 1954, and despite the devastating fire in 2007 this 19th century tea clipper is still composed of the same wood and iron from which she was originally built. For young kids, visit the ship when a Cutty Sark character is on hand to tell stories about life on board.

F – BAY SIXTY6

Bay Sixty6 is an epic undercover skate park in Ladbroke Grove, which includes challenges from street-style ledges to ski-jump-style gaps and a large bowl. There is also a beginners’ section for first-time skaters, meaning all are welcome to practise or show off their skating skills here at Bay Sixty6. Seating area is provided for those who just want to come and watch. For super-keen skaters there is even a skate shop to browse.

G – SEA LIFE LONDON AQUARIUM

Have your kids ever wondered what life forms exist deep down in the oceans? Do they want to get up close to a Sand Tiger shark? Then the Sea Life London Aquarium is the place for them! The aquarium has 14 themed zones to explore, and kids can interact with animals at its touch pools, feeding pools and diving displays. The Ocean Tunnel gives visitors the sensation of being alongside animals in the ocean and the aquarium’s Ice Adventure means all can experience the extreme conditions penguins live in.

H – HACKNEY CITY FARM

Hackney City Farm is a great way for kids to learn about farm animals without leaving the city. The farm houses small animals like guinea pigs and rabbits as well as traditional farmyard animals like sheep and goats. You will also find a number of chickens, geese and ducks. All the animals have names – the pigs are called Pepper and Pearl. There is a great cafe onsite, and the food is entirely child-friendly. The farm shop sells eggs laid by the chickens and ducks and honey made by bees at the farm.
