A – Gio

Some people spend as little time in the kitchen as possible, mainly using the microwave. Being Italian, I find this hard to understand. My kitchen is the centre of my social life, as all my friends drop in regularly, and we cook together, then eat together, and enjoy each other’s company. I learnt how to cook from my grandmother, who looked after me when my mother died, when I was quite young.

B – Ronny

I don’t mind cooking. In fact, I quite like it, but I just don’t have the time. I’m forced to live on takeaway sandwiches and only on rare weekends do I actually get a few hours to myself, and then I cook something I enjoy. The other problem is that you need to do a lot of work cooking for a few moments of pleasure eating. It’s not justifiable, if you live alone.

C – Molly

I spend a large part of my life in the kitchen, because I have five mouths to feed. My husband and my four children rely on me to put tasty and healthy food on the table, three times a day. I don’t have the luxury of wondering whether I enjoy cooking or not. Having said that, I don’t dislike it. I learnt from my father, who was an excellent cook, and ran his own restaurant. My daughter is now showing interest in learning, and that’s fun.
